Hei-tiki. This ornamental pendant of the Māori are usually made of greenstone (pounamu), and are considered a treasure (taonga). But the original Tiki of the Māori is said to represent the first man to come from the stars and from whose image a woman was subsequently created. The Tiki is a symbol of Polynesian culture from northern Hawaii to Samoa and New Zealand.
