Seal of Shema. This jasper seal was found in 1903 in the ruins of the biblical city of Meggido. It bore the inscription “Shema servant of Jeroboam”. The seal belonged to a servant of one of the first kings of Israel, Jeroboam I, who reigned shortly after King Solomon, or Jeroboam II, who reigned at the time of the prophet Jonah.
