Jabiru stork. This large stork is found in the Americas from Mexico to Argentina. It’s the tallest flying bird found in South and Central America and has the second largest wingspan after the Andean condor. An adult jabiru can reach 1.4 m long, 2.8 m across the wings and can weigh up to 9 kg. It lives in large groups near rivers and ponds and mainly feeds on fish. This stork gained protected status in Belize in 1973.
