Pinecone. Natural Baltic pinecones are beloved Christmas decoration ornament with a Latvian flag ribbon. They also belong to Latvia’s historic cold pinecone soup. The origins of the dish remain obscure but it is generally considered that it originated in the far north-east of the country in the region surrounding the city of Balvi.
