Marble trout, also known as the Adriatic trout. It is the pride of Slovenia and lives in a few rivers in the west of the country, the most famous being the Soča River. The marble trout is the largest and most well-known member of the trout family. It can grow up to 130 cm long and weigh 22 kg and has a distinctive olive-green marble pattern that sets it apart from other members of its family. It evolved from the brown trout. It is believed that the marble trout was the only species of trout in the western rivers of Slovenia until fishermen introduced other species to these rivers.
