Charles-Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte – Napoléon III (1808-1873). Monarch and French statesman, he is both the only president of the Second Republic and the first French head of state elected by universal suffrage. After the proclamation of the Empire in 1852, he was the last monarch of the country under the name of Napoléon III, Emperor of the French. He was also the nephew of Emperor Napoléon I.
