Dodo. It is a bird species endemic to Mauritius that has disappeared since the 16th century. It lived in forests or plains and measured about a meter with an average mass of 10.2 kg. Discovered in 1598, it was described as slow, not shying away from humans, large and almost cubic. The dodo died out less than a century after its discovery, at the end of the 17th century with the arrival of Europeans. Its disappearance is directly attributable to human activity.
