King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV. Born in 1918 in Nuku’alofa, he served as prime minister of Tonga for 16 years before rising to the throne in 1965 when his mother, Queen Salote Tupou III, died. He died in Auckland in 2006 and gave the throne to his eldest son George Topou V.
