Stylised pomegranate blossom. The pomegranate originated in Persia and was cultivated there more than 5,000 years ago. It is one of the first trees to have been cultivated by man, along with olive trees, vines, fig trees and date palms. It is omnipresent in the texts for its benefits and its symbolism. In Islam, the Koran considers the pomegranate as the fruit of paradise.
