Symbolic representation of a bull’s head visible on a 14th-century BC silver bowl, discovered in Egkomi, Cyprus, and now on display at the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia. The bull was one of the most important religious symbols of the peoples of the eastern Mediterranean during the Late Bronze Age. It was associated with fertility as well as supernatural strength.
