Tiger shark. They are named for the dark, vertical stripes found mainly on juveniles. As these sharks mature, the lines begin to fade and almost disappear. Tiger sharks are common in tropical and sub-tropical waters throughout the world. Large specimens can grow to as much as 6 to 7.5 m in length and weigh more than 850 kg. It is the fourth largest shark and second largest predatory shark, behind only the great white shark.
