Balkan lynx. Subspecies of the Eurasian lynx, the indigenous Balkan lynx can now be found in the Balkan Green Belt: Greece, Macedonia and Albania, and there are indications that they are present in Montenegro, Kosovo and Serbia too. However, by the 20th century it had been almost wiped out. It’s the one of the rarest cats on earth and it is considered a national symbol in the Republic of Macedonia.
