Sailing ship “Restaurasjonen” (restoration) built in 1801 in Hardanger. On July 5th, 1825 this yacht left from the port of Stanvanger with 52 people aboard (7 crew members and 45 passengers, 19 of whom were children). They arrived three months later on October 5th after an arduous crossing of the Atlantic ocean in New York. This trip is considered to be the first organized emigration party to leave from Norway on the road to the West to reach the USA and became a symbol of Norwegian American immigration.
