Alpine ibex. The habitat of the ibex is open, rocky areas above the tree line at an altitude of about 3,000 meters. The first ibexes were brought to Slovenia by Baron Julius Born in 1890-1896. He bought 20 of these animals in Switzerland for his estate in the Karawanks above Tržič. According to an estimate, there are about 300 ibexes living in Slovenia today. An ibex can jump up to 2 meters high and run up to 4 meters.
