Spectacled bear. It takes his name from the clear marks present around his eyes. It is the only bear native to South America. It lives mainly on the Andean piedmont from Colombia to Peru and feeds almost exclusively on plants. With an estimated population of 2,000 individuals, it is clearly in danger of extinction, in particular because of intensive deforestation and poaching.
