Khazne al-Firaun Temple. At 45 meters high, it is the most famous building in the ancient city of Petra, an archaeological site in the southwestern Jordanian desert. The capital of the former Nabataean kingdom dates back to around 300 BC. BC. Access through a narrow gorge called Al Siq leads to tombs and temples carved into pink sandstone cliffs, giving the city its nickname “The Red.”
